Of wings and words,
glistening crimson thrown to the wind
as silvered tongues lap at the air,
speaking with fury on their tips.
Earthen skin,
caked with blood
on the newly sundered flesh,
crackling as the sky burns.
Of sound and speed,
catching the cold bellowing out
where once was nothing but dead air,
shoulders straining to keep the weight aloft.
Honey-glazed eyes,
viewing the rushing ground passing
with a blur at every shadow,
iris' gleaning every green vein.
Of memory and sight,
blackened walls closing around
shutting the way in or out,
mouths hurriedly negotiating trade.
Blunted nails,
stopping all words and silencing
the profound speech,
ending all matter of prior debate.
Of life and death,
breath shaking from the distant
recesses of broken lungs,
bones shattered on impact.
